The trip to New Orleans
was an interesting mix of emotions. On the way down, I was consumed by
anticipation, doubt and even a little trepidation, as I did not know what to
expect to see and experience over the coming days. After the initial shock
and heartache of the first few days faded, I was left with an interesting
mix of both complete exhaustion and extreme satisfaction about the help we
were able to provide. Toward the end of the trip, I began to feel the
tenuous friendships that had only begun days before strengthening into
strong bonds with people whom I will not soon forget. Looking back now on
New Orleans and our time there, I feel a great sense of pride and
satisfaction; but also a nagging regret that we had to go home, leaving so
much unfinished work behind. |
